Various Cancers

My most dear, most kind, most precious, wish-fulfilling one,
When you recite the Diamond Cutter Sutra, it’s very important to dedicate not only for sentient beings with cancer but also generally for all sentient beings.

You need to have White Umbrella Deity [Tib: du kar; Skt: Arya Sitatapatra] done one hundred times by the Lama Gyupas in Dharamsala.

You need to wear Black Manjushri protection amulet.

Recite the Mantra Promised by Tara forty times. Recite this with devotion to Tara, totally relying on Tara, not only for healing but to actualize bodhicitta and to never be reborn in the lower realms, to achieve enlightenment as quickly as possible for sentient beings and to free them from the oceans of samsara and bring them to enlightenment as quickly as possible.

You need recitation of the Kangyur. This may cost a lot, so see if Kopan Monastery can include [you] when they need to do it for others.

Dear one,
Liberate thirty animals who are in danger of being killed. The animals can be any size,  such as insects, worms, or those animals bought by people to feed other animals. You can liberate any of these, but you need to do the practice according to how I explain it in the Liberating Animals book, by blessing the animals with mantras and taking them around holy objects and then releasing them where they will be safe.

Sorry for the long delay. I checked your question, and regarding Tibetan medicine, this is what came out:

Precious pills

• Ratna samphel: take this three times each week for five weeks.
• Gur gum: take this four times each week for seven weeks. This means you take the precious pill on one day but not the next day, and so on.

Practices

In terms of practice, recite 100,000 Vajrasattva mantras (the long mantra) if you can. Study the commentaries and do at least 100,000 mantras. Continue this every day.

• Lu-zong puja needs to be done.
• Thrul-tor [?] Geshe-la can do this. If you can, request this and make appropriate offerings.
• Namgyal tse-chog puja also needs to be done at the nunnery.
• Liberate animals 200 times. Follow my book Liberating Animals. The motivation even for your own life is to dedicate for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and all the Sangha. Also for all the benefactors of the teachings of Buddha, for all the people who do good things for others, and for you to have a long, meaningful life. Also dedicate for your family and others whom you want to have a long life.

Rinpoche checked and said that conventional Western medical treatment is best. And for practice:

• Tonglen is best. This also best for your enlightenment, which is far more important.
• Read the Prajnaparamita (the one-volume version). It’s best if this is done by Tsawa Khangtsen, Sera Je Monastery, South India.
